The Experience: Throughout October, I searched New York City for restaurants serving genuine sliders. I didn’t find many, but the few that I ate provided me with some piece of mind that the slider misnomer is not overarching in the Big Apple. My NYC slider endeavor over, I resolved to visit slider Mecca, also known as New Jersey, to eat the greasy treat in a state where the word slider actually means something. As fate would have it, Burger Weekly cofounder Matt was getting married a mere 20 miles from the Hackensack White Manna outpost. After a raucous celebration, the First Lady of Burger Weekly and I sought to cure out hangovers there.
Burgers Ordered: Multiple Cheeseburger Sliders
The Taste: The comfort that these little cheeseburgers brought me were indescribable. As I’ve said before, my home state of Michigan has done its part to being real sliders to its people, and White Manna took me back to memories of Hunter House and Green’s in metro Detroit. The aesthetic, the taste, the service, and the process were all perfectly nostalgic, not to mention delicious.
The Verdict: You want a slider? You’re in North Jersey? You go to White Manna.
White Manna is located at 358 River Street in Hackensack, New Jersey.
