Over the past few weeks I have been chronicling the rise of Great Neck, Long Island as a town with quite the burger presence. In a short period of time it has seen the arrival of Bareburger, Burger Village, Cheeburger Cheeburger, and Bistro Burger. This influx of eating establishments has given residents an array of burger joints to choose from.
If you have been following along you may have developed a sense of malaise when it comes to this burgeoning burger mecca. Upon rereading my missives I could see how a reader could feel that way. I bemoaned Burger Village’s lack of originality, disapproved of Cheeburger’s lack of medium rare as a temperature option, and was less than impressed with Bistro Burger’s operation.
However, all is not lost when it comes to the option of snagging a wonderful burger in Great Neck. In fact, you can snag several different varieties of tasty burger goodness made up of many different protein choices. And luck would have us, they are all under one roof.
The town houses one of New York’s best burger chains; the wonderfully delicious Bareburger. As you all know from Burgermeister Brad’s review of their Hell’s Kitchen location, Bareburger deserves all of its hype. They offer a great variety of organic, all-natural, grass-fed, free range meats such as beef, turkey, lamb, wild boar, elk, bison, and ostrich. They offer a wide variety of buns, sauces, and toppings to go along with these tasty protein choices and offer more than one veggie burger option. They have delicious sides and make fantastic shakes as well.
So, obviously so, I must state that the winner of the Great Neck Burger Battle is Bareburger, by a wide margin.
Bareburger is located at 32 Middle Neck Road, Great Neck, NY 11021 516-441-5711
