The Experience: Bistro Burger is a kosher burger spot that has only been open since December of 2013. You can order at the counter and grab your meal to go, or you can have a seat and get your standard waiter service. Being a kosher restaurant, you cannot get cheese on your burger and you will not find swine of any kind on the menu. The staff here was less than what I would consider friendly.

Burger Ordered: ½ lbs Chili Burger Deluxe

The Taste: Since this burger has many components, I’ll break them down individually. The bun was sturdy, holding up well under the heft of the half pound burger and all its accompaniments. Yet its flavor was unremarkable. Unfortunately the word, “unremarkable,” would define many of the aspects of this burger. The patty itself was cooked as requested, medium rare, and was quite juicy but not all that flavorful. The chili meat sauce brought a lot of heat but not a lot of the flavor. Although I could see the turkey on the burger, I couldn’t pick out its flavor intermingled with the high heat of the chili. I pulled a piece of the turkey out of the sandwich to taste it alone and found it possessing a pretty standard turkey flavor, nothing special and certainly not “crispy” as advertised. The caramelized onions were cooked perfectly and very flavorful, a highlight of this burger. My burger came with a meager side of fries which pretty much tasted like fries you would get at a subpar diner. They were mushy, undercooked, and not seasoned or salted in the slightest.

The Verdict: Upon reading over this piece I think I may be giving a poor impression of the burger I consumed at Bistro Burger. My Burger wasn’t bad per se, but it wasn’t great either, it was just kind of there. And why settle for a truly mediocre burger, when there are so many better options just a few minutes away?
