A Beastly Burger, Food Challenge or No |
Some nights call for gourmet burger experiences, with funky cheeses, signature sauces, and unusual toppings. And some nights, you just want a patty, cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, mayo, and mustard (with NO ketchup, now that I have been properly burger-educated). If you’re in Ft. Lauderdale and have that particular craving on a Monday night, head over to Tarpon Bend and take advantage of their $5 Big Cheese Burger special.
Burger Ordered: Big Cheese Burger
The Taste: Particularly with the price of the burger being so low, I couldn’t resist sprucing mine up with some avocado for another dollar. The result was a perfectly pink-on-the-inside, perfectly juicy, perfectly classic burger. Not too messy, not too done up. Just what the doctor ordered. It really did not even need the extra avocado, but I have never been one to say no to that particular topping.
The Verdict: If it’s the last Monday of the month and you’re feeling lucky, you can opt in to Tarpon Bend’s Fantastic 4 Challenge and attempt to conquer a 4-patty burger in 20 minutes or less. For those of of less bold, the classic burger–particularly in tandem with their large tap selection–will totally hit the spot.
Tarpon Bend is located at 200 SW 2nd Street in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
