The Experience: Snaps American Bistro is in line with the many of the bistros and gastropubs that seem to be popping up all over Long Island these days. I for one am all for this new development. Going to a nice, yet casual eating establishment, serving high-end burgers makes me a happy boy. Both the hostess and waitress were very nice and I was seated right away on a Saturday night with no wait. This place has an extensive burger menu, featuring 16 different specialty burgers all served with Parmesan truffle fries.
Burger Ordered: The Piggy Back
The Taste: The Piggy Back is the Snap Burger (a char grilled Angus burger with bacon, cheddar, lettuce, tomato, and pickle on a buttered, toasted sesame seed bun) augmented with BBQ pulled pork. This was a mighty flavorful burger. It was cooked to my stated medium rare desire. The toppings were impressively stacked on the flavorful patty. The pulled pork had a very nice Carolina BBQ flavor. My only complaint about this fine burger was the bun. It was a very tasty sesame seed bun, however I felt the bottom half was a little on the thin side. It held up, but I did have some difficulty putting it down and then picking my burger back up. The truffle Parmesan fries were delicious and I wanted more of them.
The Verdict: This is a nice place with a good atmosphere that serves up tasty burgers and a substantial variety of them as well. Every Thursday is $5 Snap Burger Night, where you get their standard burger for just five bucks. All other burgers on the menu are full price and fries are five dollars extra. This place is a must-try for Long Island Burgermeisters, and I myself am looking forward to returning.
