I work in east midtown Manhattan. A few days ago, a coworker asked me where she should take her grandmother for a birthday lunch in the neighborhood. I came up with a few unenthusiastic responses, and was rather disappointed that I didn’t have anything exciting to recommend. It turns out my timing is forever terrible, because the next day, Instagram photog Jay Baker clued me into the delights at Bedford & Co.
Burger Ordered: Bedford Burger
The Taste: The Bedford Burger is topped with Bloomsday cheddar, caramelized onions, a cut of pork belly, and house-made pickles. Bloomsday is killing it with this cheese, which was fantastic on the burger and also wonderful on the macaroni and cheese. It was so good in fact that I ate too much of it and my lactarded jungle tummy was activated. Worth it. The burger’s other elements didn’t slouch either. The patty more than held its own among the onions and pork belly, and the potato roll bun stood strong as well.
The Verdict: Everything at Bedford & Co was delicious, from the burgers to the fries to the mac to the octopus to the duck breast. Plus, it’s an easy recommendation for birthday lunch with grandma.
