All The Rage |
Taprooms, craft beers, these things are all the rage these days. Boyne City has gotten in on the trend with multiple establishments fitting this mold opening up or still to open. 7 Monks Taproom is the latest, and it’s an extension of another location in nearby Traverse City. Beer is great, sure, but give me a burger, and give it to me now.
Burger Ordered: Abbey Burger
The Taste: The Abbey Burger is made of a Sanders bacon and beef blend, and topped with a caramelized bacon-onion marmalade, arugula, and a choice of gruyere, sharp cheddar, smoked gouda, or gorgonzola cheese, nestled between a Bay Bread sesame-poppy seed bun. I got the gruyere cheese, because apparently I like to embarrass myself in front of waiters when trying to pronounce it. This is a very tasty burger, and I like the uniqueness of the bun. The bacon flavor in the beef and the marmalade is noticeable in a positive way, and the gruyere both accentuates and offsets it. The frites that came with the burger were delicious as well, and my only complaint is that I wanted more of them. But that’s pretty much always the case.
The Verdict: Good beers and good burgers are more than enough to keep me happy, and 7 Monks Taproom provides both of those. The restaurant is also very spacious and avoids a lot of the negatives of over-crowding, which is just another bonus of eating there.
7 Monks Taproom is located at 220 South Lake Street in Boyne City, Michigan.
